Buy your eggs from The Roost on Daufuskie island

We are so glad you found us! You are always “Welcome Home” at The Roost.

We are a small veteran owned, family run USDA farm on Daufuskie Island. We raise laying hens and are learning to practice regenerative agriculture. We envision greater self sufficiency, sustainability and affordable healthy options for our family and yours.

We sell hand gathered eggs and have begun to offer some produce. Many visitors stop to see our garden and meet our rescue animals.

Here at the Roost we care for the animals and the environment. We are learning through Clemson and The South Carolina New and Beginning Farmer Program to avoid the use of pesticides and chemicals on our property. We feed our hens an organic diet and our animals receive regular veterinary care.

Everything we do at The Roost is with love and intention. This is our home and our rescues forever home. We hope to convey that feeling to everyone we meet.

"Adam and Laura greet you like family. They are an enthusiastic hard working couple who can’t wait to invite you on their journey! Bring a camera, and sturdy shoes. Visiting the Roost is always free. Adam and Laura cater to families and children to make each visit a memorable experience “

Guests have enjoyed education and impromptu participation in gathering eggs, grooming a donkey, walking a pony, holding baby chicks, or meeting and feeding a 700 lb rescue pig that gives kisses for treats.

Our hours are 11-3. We ask that visitors call ahead so we can best prepare for your family and our eggs sell out quickly!

How Hurricaine Irma could affect Daufuskie Island, SC

The governor of Georgia Nathan Deal has already declared the Georgia Coast a disaster area and recommended evacuation. By this weekend we will see if Florida, Georgia or South Carolina takes a direct hit. As a catagory 5 hurricane with 185 mph winds this is not a storm to play with, or to stay the course on. Unlike the Daufuskie 16 this is not a storm to toy with. It could be very destructive unlike any storm we have seen in a decade.

Daufuskie Island, SC

Memorial day weekend

Marshside Mama's Daufuskie Island

It's Saturday night at Marshside Mamas on Daufuskie Island. Beth has done it again, probably the best sea scallops I have ever put into my mouth and the shrimp and grits. Oh the shrimp and grits. The sun is going down and the cocktails are going down easy. This is truly paradise.
